HOW IT WORKS: The league plays one Texas Hold'em Tournament a month for twelve months. The first eleven tournaments of the season have no payouts--instead, there's a point system in place. The twelfth and final tournament of the season is where a final winner will be selected for the league and the lump sum payouts are distributed to players.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY: To become a part of the poker league, it takes a $105 commitment. However, this money does not have to be payed up front. The league's money pool will grow as the months go by (and the total in the pot will be updated on this website for all players to see). Once you've played in ten of the twelve tournaments of the season, your $105 is about paid off and hopefully the points you've earned will win you some money!!
THE POINT SYSTEM: At the end of each month's tournament, all players will receive points based on their performance. The points accumulate for each player throughout the season. The four players with the highest points at the end of the season receive set payouts in October 2015 after the final tournament.
THE PAYOUT: At the end of the season, the four players with the highest point totals win cash. 1st Place wins 50% of the pot, 2nd Place wins 25% of the pot, 3rd Place wins 15% of the pot, and 4th Place wins 10% of the pot.

WHEN/WHERE ARE THE MONTHLY TOURNAMENTS: This year's league begins in November of 2014 and ends in October of 2015. We play the first Sunday of each month at 3pm. The location of each tournament will rotate amongst the members of the league. Players may volunteer as to which month they would like to "host the party." Hosts are not expected to provide food of any kind. Tournaments are BYOB and players need to supply their own chair. Hosting locations are kid-friendly unless otherwise noted.
Players who miss a tournament will receive zero points. Players are required to submit the full $105 regardless of seasonal attendance. The league has a capped subbing policy that states players can have a substitute play for them one time during the season.
HOW DO I SIGN UP: Contact Robbie Cummings or Russell Pullen directly via email: thecummingspokerleague@gmail.com If you are the member of a family or couple that would like to "share a seat" (meaning the two of you only pay $105 total and take turns playing over the months with the possibility of only placing in one position at the end of the season), that's fine. Teammates must split tournaments either 6-6, 7-5, or 8-4. Once you're signed up, the expectation is that you'll submit your $105 to the league over the next year. Robbie will be the bookkeeper but ALL records will be publicly displayed on this website. Other items of interest you'll find below includes the official roster, individual player point totals, and the accumulated pot so far. The max limit of players in a given season is 20. No new players will be accepted once this cap is reached.
All tournaments will be only No-limit Texas Hold'em. Standard rules for winning hands, betting order, etc. will be followed.
NUMBER OF TABLES: The amount of players present at each month's tournament will determine the number of tables used. If there are ten players or less, only one table is necessary. If more than ten players are present, two tables will be used and consolidated as needed. If two tables are running, tables will be rebalanced any time one table contains two or more players than another. During table rebalancing, the player being moved to fill the lighter table will be the person who is currently seated to the right of the dealer, as long as that player isn't the table's current chip leader or low stack. The moment nine players or less are left in a tournament, only one table will be used. If a single player is moved to a new table, that player will be sat to the right of the dealer. If multiple players are being moved to a new table at the same time, those players will be staggered (not sit next to one another) in their same order. During final-table-consolidation, the lighter table will move to the heavier table and stagger as appropriate.
STARTING STACKS: CPL utilizes professional-grade chips. Each color is makred with its denomination. Each color only has value during a tournament. At the start of each tournament, every player will begin with 6500 chips. As the blinds raise higher, players will be "chipped up" to remove lower denomination colors. Chips are always rounded up.
FORMAT AND BLINDS: Player seats will be chosen at random. This will be accomplished through labeled seating chips that players will draw to select their seat. Under no circumstance should a player ever dictate their own seat by exchanging drawn chips! The starting position of the dealer button will begin at Position 3 at each table. Blinds will start at 50/100 and raise every eighteen minutes*. Here is the blind schedule:

*The breaks will be timed by Director Pullen.
TIES: In the event that two players finishing the season in the top four spots have the exact same point total, a playoff will take place to decide the tie. The playoff will occur one week after the season's final tournament in October (on 10/11/15). The match will begin at 3pm @ Robbie's house. Each player in the playoff will start with 2000 chips. The standard blind schedule will be followed except blinds will raise every ten minutes. All other CPL policies will be followed. The winner will be awarded 0.5 points toward their league total (overall points do not round). Final payout will be based off the updated point total. **The date/time of the playoff can be rescheduled if all players involved in the tie agree on the change.
TEAMS: Players who register to share a seat must split tournament either 6-6, 7-5, or 8-4. One player of the team may not play 9 or more tournaments. Players who are sharing a seat can still only have one total sub for a season.
LATE ENTRIES: Regular registration for the season should occur before the first tournament in November, but late players may register for the current season through January. However, no handicap or points will be provided to late players that miss the first two tournaments. Late entries will still be required to pay the full $105 to the league. *Late entry is only possible if the league is below the 20-player-cap
STARTING TIME: Tournaments will start at 3pm sharp on their respective Sundays. Players that call Robbie or Russ to confirm they're running late but coming will still receive chips and a random seat. Late player's blinds will be paid until they arrive. Remember, all players are required to submit $105 to the league by the end of the season regardless of attendance. *If a player calls in late to have their seat held but ends up not showing up, that player's chips will remain live until he/she has been completely blinded-out. However, that player will not receive any points since they were a no show. If a player calls in late and doesn't show up multiple times, he/she may be rejected from registering for upcoming seasons.
SUBBING: If a player is unable to make a tournament, that player may arrange a non-CPL player to substitute for them. The absent player must make direct contact with the sub & a Director before the tournament begins. Subs earn full points for the player they're replacing. However, there is a cap on substitutes. Players can arrange a sub for ONE missed tourney. After that, an absence is an empty seat. Only one "person" may occupy a seat per tournament. This means if a CPL player begins a tournament and then has to leave for some reason before he/she is knocked out, a substitute may not finish the tournament in their spot. If a substitute begins a tournament, the CPL player they are covering for may not reenter in their seat. If a player with live chips is absent, he/she will be blinded-out and assigned whatever place they rightfully earn. Players who have registered for the league in a shared seat may not switch in and out during a tournament. Whichever player of the "team" that begins a given tournament is the only player that day that may sit in the seat, play the chips, and see the cards.

If a present player is not in his seat when action is on him, then he will immediately be put on a one minute countdown before his hand is surrendered. If the player returns during the countdown, the countdown to surrender still continues. The last ten seconds must be announced out loud. If a missing player's one minute countdown expires and then she is still not back in her seat when the next hand puts action on her, then her cards will be folded immediately without a new one minute countdown.
"THE CLOCK": Any player sitting at a table with live chips has the right to put another player at the table on the clock if that player is taking more than a reasonable amount of time to make a decision. Once the clock is activated for a player, he/she has 30 seconds to complete an action before their hand is declared dead and folded. However, the player calling the clock must keep track of the 30 seconds using a real time-keeping device of some kind. The final 10 seconds of a player's clock should be announced aloud. A player must have had at least thirty seconds to think about his or her action before the clock is called. Players intentionally stalling the progress of the game goes against CPL policy and may be viewed as a deliberate violation by the directors.
MISDEALING: If
a card is accidentally revealed by the dealer during the start of a
hand, that card will be shown to all players and automatically become
the first burn card. The player whose card was revealed will receive
their missing hole card as the final card dealt, regardless of their
position at the table. The player does NOT have the option to keep the
revealed card. If two cards are accidentally revealed during the deal, a misdeal is declared and a new shuffle is necessary.
LEAGUE DUES: A CPL member has twelve months to pay the league the full season dues ($105). The Directors encourage players to try to be paid-off by September (the eleventh tournament of the season). This helps with the organization of payouts. However, the absolute deadline for payments is the last tournament of the season in October. Payment must be received before the final season tournament begins. A player who is missing dues will not receive a chip stack at the twelfth tourney. If a player refuses or is unable to pay the full $105, he or she will be banned from CPL indefinitely. Though the league is run amongst friends, no favors can be made in regard to league dues. The rules listed will not be bent because of some unexpected situation. Everything described here will be enforced no matter who you are.

No rakes/cuts are ever taken on the league's behalf. A $5 registration fee is required of all players for league upkeep. Tournaments are privately held. All players begin events with equal odds of winning. Players are prohibited from making "deals" during a tournament. Player points can never be shared or reallocated against the published point scale guidelines. All tournaments must be played until a single player has been deemed the winner. Players must follow all etiquette, including never showing another player their hand or performing any other actions viewed as cheating. Click here for more information on when hole cards can be shown. No more than twenty players will be registered for the league in a given season. No string betting. Cards speak for themselves. Only league chips will be used during tournaments. All money submitted to the league is non-refundable. Rebuys, add-ons, and/or antes will never be a part of the league. If the dealer mistakenly reveals a burn card after the flop, all players shall be allowed to see the revealed card and the hand will continue. If multiple players are knocked out of a tournament on the same hand, the players’ chip stacks prior to the knockout determines tournament placing. Players reserve the right to decline points the league attempts to attribute to them. If an occurrence arises where a player fails to pay his/her full $105 to the league in a given season, the final pot will be reduced by the missing amount. Any player who doesn't fulfill his/her payment is banned from CPL indefinitely. If a player deliberately or excessively violates CPL policy, that player may be expelled from the league without refund.
All rule disputes will be resolved solely by a CPL Director (R. Cummings or R. Pullen).
The two Directors reserve the right to: 1)Interpret the rules in the best interest of the league. 2)Rule directly on any conflicts that arise or they may call for a democratic vote amongst the league members to decide a dispute. 3)Refuse a player's right to register for the league on an individual basis. 4)Change the scheduled date of a CPL tournament (at least one-week-notice necessary) or the start time of a scheduled tournament (never earlier than 3pm without consent from all players).
